High Intensity HEAT Course by Safer Edge is Back!
There has been a major paradigm shift in the aid sector in the past few years and we have seen unprecedented levels of violence against aid workers. As a sector, it became clear something else was needed as the events in the Middle East and elsewhere unfolded. World Vision International went to various HEAT providers in Europe and didn’t find anything that pushed their staff and tested them in mind and body, until they met the Safer Edge team. In collaboration with World Vision, we have developed a High Intensity HEAT Course.
High Intensity HEAT courses run by Safer Edge with our team of expert trainers, and overseen by our psychologist we will push you. Physically and mentally. Typical of all Safer Edge courses we will blend theory and practical and, also turning up the pressure as the course develops. You will need to complete a pre-course screening by our psychologist, who will be on standby throughout the course, so that you will be ready for the 16-hour simulation.
After a successful first course, we have been requested by several organisations to run another HI HEAT course in January 2017. In this course, we will maintain the following key aspects:
§ Higher trainer/participant ratio
§ 16-hour field based simulation
§ Increased focus on highly practical exercises throughout
§ ‘Designed in’ increased levels of stress escalation and pressure
§ On site 24/7 psychological support staff
As proud as we are of our 4-day HEAT, we recognise that with more resources and a greater emphasis on extended simulation training, over 5 days you will achieve a higher level of preparation, especially for those who will work and travel in ‘High and Severe Risk’ classified countries.
